Command Post of the Future (CPoF) facilitates command and control through online collaboration for the US Army in Baghdad, Iraq. Lead team of eight engineers to build and support two vital products:
  • CPoF Web is a map-based web application with editable and searchable CPoF data. The Tomcat and Struts based CPoF Web boasts flexibility with a dynamically build user interface and database to keep pace with an ever changing enemy. Efficiency, supporting quick event reactions under disadvantaged networks was achieved by two technical advances: one, polling, sending updates to browsers quickly, but only when necessary; and two, map background and foreground pieces were broken up, which efficiently utilizes browser caching to minimize downloads and reduce server load as the browser plots foreground pieces on the map.
  • DataBridge is middleware that exchanges information to and from CPoF and other military systems. Information exchanged includes vehicle positions, enemy situation, and boundary lines.
Human Analysis & Requirements Planning System (HARPS), Job Task Analysis (JTA) allows manipulation of Job Task data using JOnAS Tomcat, Apache Pluto Portal, Hibernate, and an Axis based SOAP SOA.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership, In-Theater Operational Support (spent over two months at Camp Liberty, Baghdad Iraq), Tasking Engineering Team, Schedule, Spend Plans, Financial Reports and liaison to four other companies which encompassed the entire project.
